Airtel Uganda has recently announced a new 5G Smart Connect Home service, and in doing so also restructured the packages for unlimited home Internet.Through the updates, speed and pricing is changed as well as new options are introduced. People now have other choices about how long they want to use this internet service–no longer is it just a month option.
The biggest change is that different speeds are now being offered. Airtel’s unlimited data packages now vary according to the maximum speed you choose. This approach gives you control over finding a plan which best fits the needs of your own household

Airtel has introduced alternative payment methods because they hope, too, that they will give customers better value for money.
These plans are ideal if you want to avoid the monthly subscription hassle, and with the extra savings can enjoy even better value.
Here’s where the new plans stand against the current offering.

Quarterly Unlimited Plans (90 Days)

30 Mbps: UGX 405,000
Bi-Annual Unlimited Plans (180 Days)

Changes to the Initial Purchase Price and Devices
Airtel’s 5G Smart Connect Home/Business service now offers two types of devices to choose from, catering to different user needs. For the first-time purchase, there is a total cost of UGX 180,000. This amount is a combination of a UGX 50,000 connection fee and the standard UGX 130,000 for the unlimited bundle.
Customers can select between two router types: the indoor router and the outdoor router.
Indoor Router: A sleek, standalone device that connects up to 64 users and comes with a free power bank, providing up to 6 hours of battery life for uninterrupted internet access.
Outdoor Router: This is a two-part system where the main unit is fixed outside to receive a stronger signal, with an indoor router placed inside the home to distribute the connection.
Both options offer unlimited data bundles, unlimited monthly packages, and lightning-fast internet speeds, allowing users to choose the device that best suits their location and signal requirements. The best part? You get the device free with your subscription.
Brief on Fair Usage Policy (FUP)
And, as typically happens with unlimited broadband bundles, it’s worth noting that these are “unlimited” plans and are subject to a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) and there is a high-speed data cap too: If you use a lot of data in the period, your speed may go down for the remainder of the period. This ensures quality access for all users and helps manage network traffic.
