How it works

The Registration Process, Simplified by Kartel Tech

Navigating URSB can feel complex. We handle each step—from name search to certificate delivery—so you can focus on launching.

Choose the Appropriate Name

We help you decide whether to register a Business Name (sole proprietor), a Partnership, a Private Company Limited by Shares (Ltd), or a Company Limited by Guarantee (for non-profits). This aligns with Uganda’s Companies Act and URSB practice.

URSB Name Search & Reservation (OBRS)

We conduct a name search and reserve your name for 30 days through the URSB Online Business Registration System (OBRS). You’ll provide 2–3 alternatives in case the first is taken.

Prepare Required Documents

We compile the correct forms and attachments—e.g., Memorandum & Articles of Association for companies, directors’/owners’ IDs, registered office details, and share capital info for Ltd companies—per URSB requirements.

Application Submission & PRN Payment

We file your application online and manage fees via a Payment Registration Number (PRN). If a PRN is needed, we generate it and complete payment correctly so your file moves without delays.

Approval & Certificates Issued

URSB reviews the file. Once approved, you receive the official Certificate of Registration (Business Name) or Certificate of Incorporation (company). If clarifications are requested, we handle corrections and resubmission.

Registration Questions

URSB FAQs

Here are answers to common questions about the URSB registration process. If there’s anything else you need to know, we're here to help.

No, we are not. Kartel Tech is an independent service provider. Think of us like an internet cafe or a business agent who is an expert in the URSB process. We handle the entire registration on your behalf to save you time and ensure all paperwork is filed correctly.
Our total fee is composed of two parts: 1) The standard government fees required by URSB for registration, and 2) Our service fee. Our service fee covers the time and expertise for document preparation, application submission, and follow-ups. We are fully transparent and encourage clients to confirm the official URSB fees on their public portal.
Typically, a Business Name registration can be completed within 1-3 business days. A Limited Liability Company (LLC) may take 3-7 business days. This can sometimes vary depending on URSB's system workload and the specifics of your application.
For a simple Business Name, you will need your National ID (NIN) and at least three proposed business names. For a Company (LLC), you will also need details for all directors and shareholders. We will guide you through all the requirements to make it easy.
Yes, you can. However, many entrepreneurs in Mbarara and Kampala choose our service to avoid the complexities of the online system, potential errors in paperwork, and time spent in follow-ups. We ensure the process is smooth and that it's done correctly the first time.
Not at all. We can handle the entire registration process for you remotely, whether you are in Mbarara, Gulu, or any other part of Uganda. We submit everything digitally on your behalf, so your physical location is not a barrier.
