Light for Eternity

This nonprofit website design was built for Light for Eternity Ministries International, an organisation working across rural Uganda with supporters in the United States. The organisation runs six distinct programme areas at once. Therefore the central design problem was breadth: how to show everything without leaving a visitor unable to choose.

Six programmes, one organising idea

Rather than listing the work as a flat menu, each programme area is introduced with the verse that motivates it, followed by a plain description of what actually happens. Food security, orphan care, health and maternal care, economic empowerment, education and spiritual presence each get equal weight. As a result, a supporter sees a coherent mission instead of six unrelated projects.

A nonprofit website design built for live campaigns

Fundraising works better when a specific target is visible. Consequently the causes section runs individual campaigns with a goal, an amount raised and a progress bar, covering shelter for vulnerable children, a rural maternal health camp and a tailoring workshop for women. Meanwhile the numbers update as gifts come in, so the page never looks stale.

Two audiences, one site

Supporters in Uganda and in the United States arrive with different questions and different giving habits. For that reason the donation flow, the partnership page and the programme detail all avoid assuming local knowledge. In addition, the site loads acceptably on slow connections, which matters for staff and beneficiaries in rural districts.
